Walking programs
Walking – Set your own pace
The benefits of walking programs have been acknowledged as a defense against the increase in Type 2 diabetes and general obesity. Walking form the basis of most fitness programs and is a great way to start or maintain your fitness at any age.
The low impact activity can be incorporated into company wellness programs with pedometers (normally $25) offered free of charge to all participants at the start of the program. The bite4life pedometers allow participants to track their daily steps with the goal to reach 10,000 a day.

The walking programs are graded in various levels of difficulty, with the recommended number of steps per day ranging from 8,000-10,000. The Heart Foundation is just one of the strong supporters of walking, laying claim to the largest community walking program in Australia and recommending at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise per day.
The program is monitored for success with fitness testing at the start and conclusion of the program. This provides excellent feedback for the individuals and management for their return on investment.
